Day 12 - A Song From A Band You Hate

GOD I HATE BOY BANDS... Sorry, I just had to start off with that. I hate N'Sync a lot. Sorry, Timberlake but you've done a lot of damage. More than you can ever imagine. Seriously... You helped ruin Duran Duran with your cancerous plans in "Red Carpet Massacre." I really despise your music.

So with that, I hate N'Sync and "Bye Bye Bye" comes into my mind as a horrible song that they have created. So I decide to spare you all by not having you hear that song by picking Further Seems Forever's great cover of a horrible song.

Day 11 - A Song From Your Favorite Band

I have way too many favorite bands to pick from so naming one from my favorite band is really like asking me to pick a song from one of my favorite bands... The Airborne Toxic Event has covered a couple of great bands and has clearly been influenced by some of my favorite bands. I guess, because of that, I can justify them as a favorite band...

Day 10 - A Song That Makes You Fall Asleep

The girl I am seeing has me watching the TV series "Bones." We just hit the episode "The Salt In The Wounds" and this song was playing. It's so peaceful with the acoustics. I haven't heard guitar like this in a while.

Mattel, are you listening?

I posed this on Matty's forum here:

Alright, Matty. You've given us a really cool Ecto-1 Exclusive by finally getting us the Rookie. Props for adding on the trap and some other equipment to the tool belt too. But I want to see the Female Rookie from the stylized version made. Ok, so it's going to be a whole new sculpt? I got that. But I can think of four easy uses of this sculpt.

#1 - The Video Game Rookie (Female)

#2 - Real Ghostbusters Janine  - Won't need Annie Potts' permission

#3 - From IDW's Ghostbusters series, the half-sister of Gozer... Rachel Unglighter

#4 - Extreme Ghostbusters Kylie (Stylized by IDW's Ghostbusters Tristan Jones)

Just for Fun:

Day 09 - A Song That You Can Dance To

I think this song really sums it up for me...

Captain America Review

I saw Captain America the day it came out, and I was pretty impressed. Before I saw it, I was expecting an ok marvel superhero movie. Admit it, without a good Captain America movie, The Avengers movie would be doomed to fail. How could you base an Avengers movie off a bad Captain America movie? Well, marvel accomplished the task very well. The movie didn’t have the most recognizable talent, other than Tommy Lee Jones and Hugo Weaving. Another reason why the movie didn’t seem like it was going to be great.

Well readers, I’ve got some news to give you. Captain America may be the best movie this summer. There, I said it. The acting was great, the story impressive. It had good action scenes. I’m not a huge comic book reader, I know very little of the story according to the comics but it seemed to follow it well from what I know. I’d say it gets four out of five stars. It was very well done, and will lead very well into the movie we are all waiting for, The Avengers in 2012. By the way, stay after the credits. You’ll thank me later!

Day 08 - A Song That You Know All The Words To

Oingo Boingo's "Deadman's Party" is one of the best examples of a song that is a cult classic; and yes, I know all the lyrics to it.

Day 07 - A Song That Reminds You of a Certain Event

Summer of 2008. North Jersey. I was working for Apple and we had what was called C.O.R.E. training. We were opening up a new retail and repair center in Wayne, NJ. There was a lot of new recruits and one of them was an elder gentleman who was really big into Alphaville.

Day 06 - A Song That Reminds You of Somewhere

"Tidal Wave" by Longwave is definitely a memory from Philadelphia. It was 2009 when I saw them perform this song live when they opened up for OkGo.

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 05 -A Song That Reminds You of Someone

Many bands and many songs come to mind with this posed challenge to me. Many of these bands arise like gladiators in the arena to come forward. The one that holds the championship for this glorious title is perhaps one of the saddest songs that I know of. Seriously, this song should have been the song for Day 04. Truth be told that this song was a formidable pick for yesterday but I decided to not use it so easily when this challenge would clearly justify this picking. This song is, "Hear You Me" by Jimmy Eat World.

Friday's Fun Photos!

Really not the greatest post but this is how I spent my night... Well, a part of it... at least...

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 04 - A Song That Makes You Sad

"Well I'd like to think i'm the mess you'd wear with pride. Like some empty dress on the bed you've layed out for tonight." That's just the opening lyrics for the song that makes me sad. It really does  because the band, Band of Horses, has an amazing set of vocals and instruments paired together. So what song is it? "I Go To The Barn Because I Like The."

Now the title itself makes little sense by itself; even with the lyrics and the song it makes no sense. But look at it as this: I Go To The Barn Because I Like The - Band Of Horses.

I first heard this song while watching Psych.

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 03 - A Song That Makes You Happy

Ok, so I know that M.I.A. is influenced by Joe Strummer and The Clash, yet I hate M.I.A. Seriously, I get sick every time I hear her music. BUT... I love The Clash. As mentioned with my favorite song in Day 01 of this challenge.

So what song makes me happy? Let's go with Mick Jones; retired from The Clash. But... his new band; Carbon Silicon. What song? The News!

Captain America!

Just for those of you who don't know, Captain America comes out tonight!

Tunes for Tuesday: "Should I Stay or Should I Go?"

So darling, you've got to let me know...  what is my favorite song? That's now a loaded question. I have over 40 thousand songs on this computer alone and I know I am missing some more that need to be added. I'm also trying the 30 Day Song Challenge. So what would be my favorite song? Probably has to be by The Clash. Probably would then have to be "Should I Stay or Should I Go?"

You can always track my music listens here:  http://www.last.fm/user/AFinalBroadcast

PS! Now for a funny true story... when I was younger, I did this song at a County Fair.

Movie Mondays: Over The Hedge

Alright, I love Ben Folds' music. I love animals. I sometimes love CGI movies for kids. I think I'm going to have to admit to this fact that I liked Over The Hedge.

Now, I'm not going to really ruin the plot of this movie just yet because I want people to see this movie. It has a good amount of voice talent; like Will Shatner. I'm not even going to name the rest because there's IMDB for that. And it's pretty late tonight. Anyway, the movie is about a raccoon named RJ trying to gather and steal food to pay back a bear named Vincent. He swindles Verne and his "family" of other animal friends into assisting him while Verne and crew are completely ignorant to suburbia.

The movie has really great CGI cartoony effects; which is great considering it is based on a comic strip. The movie also goes on about family values, morals, and satires suburbia perfectly.

Check out the comic strip here at: http://www.gocomics.com/overthehedge.

First Super Brawl Sunday!

This week we’re launching Super Brawl Sunday. I’m going to pit Fox Mulder and Dana Scully against Sam and Dean Winchester. Rules? There are none; but it’s going to be an open debate. Can the leads from The X-Files best the leads from Supernatural?

Let’s go over the quick information as we open this topic up:
·       Sam and Dean Winchester have their own ethics and report to no one. Mulder and Scully are FBI agents. Mulder is somewhat by the book while Scully mainly is by the book.
·       Mulder and Scully have FBI issued weapons while the Winchesters have a weapons cache that seems endless.
·       Mulder and Scully are highly educated. Mulder went to Oxford and graduated. Sam dropped out of Stanford. Dean has street smarts while Scully knows science.

If it was a physical fight, I’d put my bank account on the Winchesters. If it was a “Who Can Solve The Case Fastest” race, I’d put it on Scully and Mulder. Having the FBI back you up is a lot of help. It beats the Winchesters’ method of stolen credit cards. Though, having Castiel, an angel, on your side is that wildcard that helps Dean…

Thoughts?

Schedule and themes of articles: Hey, I’ll be the first to admit it that writing about Ghostbusters strictly is going nowhere for the site so I’m expanding the topics. These are just a list of the regular columns I’m going to start launching. I could use a little back up or suggestions for new columns. Feel free to pick one you want to write about. It doesn’t have to be weekly either. We can work with alternating weeks if you want.
·       Super Brawl Sundays- A hypothetical debate/question of two characters or teams pitted against each other; based on similar elements or themes. For examples:
·       “X-Files” Agents Mulder and Scully against “Supernatural” brothers Sam and Dean Wincester.
·       Marvel Comics’ The Hand Clan against The Foot Clan from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
·       Buffy the Vampire Slayer versus Marvel Comic’s Blade.
·       Movie Mondays- Pick your favorite movie; can be science fiction, comic book, action, or whatever you want to talk about. Seriously, go for Gone With the Wind if you really want to.
·       Tuesday Tunes- This is where the music part comes in. Face it, we’re all science fiction/comic book/whatever you want to call us addicts. Let’s pick some music to talk about. Like MC Chris or 30 Seconds to Mars.
·       Game On!- What video game is making your wallet hurt this week or stay up all night until you beat it?
·       New Comic Book Day Wednesday- New issues or reprints being released on this day. Hmm, what are you anxious about picking up this week at your favorite comic book store?
·       Tech Talk Thursday- Want to talk about the newest thing that Apple is going to force feed us to want or the current World of WarCraft glitch? Here’s your section. You can even talk about tutorials too.
·       Friday’s Film- So it’s Friday night and you’re off from work. What movie are you heading out to see in theaters? Which one wouldn’t you see?
·       Figured Out on Friday- What action figures do you collect? Which ones do you remember? Feel free to write about them.
·       Saturday Morning Cartoons- We all remember when cartoons used to be the reason we’d get up at the crack of dawn. Which ones were the ones you used to watch? Pick a series or a season of a series to talk about!
·       Sci-Fi Saturday- Remember the good old days of catching Star Trek: The Next Generation on a Saturday evening? Let’s revive those days by talking about any science fiction series you want.
·       Open To Ideas- So you have one of your own? Awesome. Let’s go with it.

Writing Rules for GHOSTBUSTING.net:
·       Keep it clean. We don’t need to be coarse or profane to get people to read our site.
·       Keep it professional. There might be other sites out there mocking us someday… but we’re the bigger guys in this.
·       Have fun. I can’t preach this part enough. I thank all of you for taking on this site with me. It’s not supposed to be a burden and I get it that sometimes it might just feel that way. So let’s just have fun and enjoy it.
