No Comic-con, 3D Star Wars, Fall of Cybertron

Alright folks, new news! First off, I didn't go to comic con like expected! (bummer!)

But got some cool new nerdy news. Was watching part of Spike's Scream Awards where Darth Vader came out and said he was worried about George Lucas remastering Star Wars but he wouldn't be able to mess with him tonight. George Lucas walks in from behind to give Darth Vader his award for the night, and later says 3D Star Wars will be released in 2012. Yeah, looking forward to that!

Also, looks like a sequel to Transformers:War for Cybertron has been uncovered. It will be called Transformers:Fall of Cybertron and it made the cover of Game Informer with two different covers out there. Now I'll have to finish War for Cybertron, picked it up one or two weeks ago. Both game are interesting takes on the Transformers universe, seeing as how they transform into cybertron vehicles and not vehicles from our planet.

Transformers:Dark Of The Moon Review

So yesterday I rented Transformers:Dark Of The Moon. Best part? It was a free rental! Anyway, I honestly thought this was the best of the three. Almost non-stop mech combat, good storyline, great plot twist. They threw in some new characters, one really cool concept stingray corvette. The new love interest of Sam Witwicky is even better looking then Megan Fox, seriously. They show how Sam is getting older, and really doesn't live the life he did when he was a kid having a transforming camaro (at least for a good part of the storyline, he drives a beat up Datsun) and being a hero. Buy it! Buy it now! But if you cant do that, just rent it.

Oh, and I wish my camaro could transform like bumblebee. Haha!

Countdown to NY Comic Con!

Seriously, I'm getting pretty psyched for NY Comic Con. I was looking at the panels for October 15th, the day im going, and wow there are some good panels. One on the possibilities of actually becoming batman or iron man, a Walking Dead panel, one on surviving a zombie apocalypse, a Beavis and Butthead panel, and more! It's gonna be pretty awesome if I can get into all the wants I want. Made a schedule based on all the panels I wanna see. I'm also wondering what video game companies are gonna show up. One of the other panels is a Marvel Video Game panel, so thats not bad, but maybe that only scratches the surface on gaming at comic con. Anyway, I'm looking forward to carrying my HP touchpad around that day and keeping some updates online.

News!

What's up everybody? Sorry I haven't been around! So some new interesting stuff, turns out im going to comic con in NYC this year. Gonna be fun, looking forward to it. Also, how many Final Fantasy fans are out there? Found out the other day Final Fantasy X, the game that got me into some of them, is going to be released again for ps3 and remastered in HD. I'm now waiting for Final Fantasy VII to be re-released. That would be pretty killer, seeing as how its one of the more popular ones. I didn't actually play VII until a couple years ago when playstation network released it as a downloadable title. I saw what I missed when it was on ps1. It was a great game with a long story (3 playstation discs!) and was very well done.

Get "Ready To Believe You" Egon Today!

Matty's site, http://www.mattycollector.com/store/matty/en_US/pd/productID.234328300 , has Egon on sale in about a half hour. Totally recommend it as it comes with the first ghost we see in the movie... the Library Ghost! She also was the boss in the most recent Ghostbusters game.

Psych Marathon!

Pysch is one of my favorite TV shows. Cloo ( http://www.cloo.com/ ) is doing an all day Psych Marathon today. For those with Cloo, check it out. For this without it, get a Cloo? ;)

Day 27 - A Song That You Wish You Could Play

I think this is one of the greatest love songs ever made. Mikel has such a great personality and is a wordsmith.

Day 25 - A Song That Makes You Laugh

Anything by Lil Jon. Come on, tell me that the King of Krunk is not funny! Ok, so he is unintentionally funny. Let's try "Green Eggs and Ham."

IDW's Ghostbusters Goes Monthly!

We're about to see the launch of the great, great Ghostbusters from IDW becoming a monthly subscription. Is anyone else collecting or reading these? I really, really recommend that you do!

Day 24 - A Song That You Want To Play At Your Funeral

Yesterday I used Oingo Boingo for my wedding day pick. Now today, I pick Oingo Boingo for my funeral. Interesting!

Day 23 - A Song That You Want To Play At Your Wedding

There's this song that everyone knows and it has lyrics like, "I've... had... the time of my life, and I owe all it owe to you..." You know that song? Good because it's not the one I am wanting at my wedding. Honestly, if I hear it my wedding, the DJ will be singing "Shot through the heart and you're to blame..."

I'd like this song by Oingo Boingo to be played. It's called, "We Close Our Eyes."

Day 22 - A Song That You Listen To When You’re Sad

History. Funeral For A Friend. Hands down. Sorry, this is a no contest discussion here. This song is actually about the vocalist's battle with alcohol and also has a great music video. The references and allusions in this song are plentiful.

Day 21 - A Song That You Listen To When You’re Happy

Honestly, if I had not already used Carbon Silicone for Day 3, I would have used "The News" for this day. Repeating it here would be so simple and make sense since the topic is about music and your happiness.

I'm going to have to say Flea Market. Yes, it's a commercial. But it makes me happy.

Opening Mr. Stay Puft!

This video is me opening the SDCC Stay Puft figure from Mattel. The music is by Moby and is called "Ghost Return." I figured it would be a perfect song to play while opening the giant manifestation of Gozer.

I will review the figure in detail tonight!

Monsters (2010 Film)

It's no secret that I have a crush on anything that the UK does. Really, it's no secret. So last week, I was standing in front of a Red Box movie rental machine and trying to decide on what movie I should use my free rental code on. Monsters looked like a good pick. The name of the movie, the description, and the picture used gave it character. That's something you don't see anymore; a movie with a lot of greatness going for it. Still, I was unsure of how good the movie could be; but it was a free rental code.

The opening of the movie seemed a little shaky; it was shot in a first person's view through night vision; as you can see with this uploaded video. I was thinking, "Aw man, not another Cloverfield."

The plot at first doesn't make sense with the opening of the movie but I cannot tell you how important it is to watch the movie as one continuous film. The little hiccup of the opening of the movie eventually makes much more sense when you see the end of the movie.

The plot of the movie is simple and almost original; NASA happens to find life in space and brings samples back to Earth. During reentry, the specimens are lost and end up between Mexico and the US. A couple years later, the creatures now have control of that area. The main characters are Andrew Kaulder and Samantha Wynden. Andrew is sent by his boss to retrieve his daughter. Unfortunately, getting back isn't as easy as they expected.

The visuals for the movie were pretty amazing when it came to the fact that whole movie had a small budget of only $500,000; giving the filming equipment a budget of only $15,000. Gareth Edwards actually wrote, directed, filmed, and did the visual effects for the film himself using off-the-shelf computer programs. The music score is pretty great; as it was atmospheric and relaxing.

The acting was also great as two lesser known actors were used. Since the actors were dating in real life, they were able to work better with each other. The extras were actually locals doing improvised parts.

I'd definitely recommend anyone and everyone to check this movie using Red Box for the low cost of a $1. You can't get a better deal for your dollar elsewhere!

Working on the Library.

So it's time I work on the library for my Ghostbusters figures... I think this is a good start. I'll have better pictures up later this week.

Day 20 - A Song That You Listen To When You’re Angry

I really don't get angry... It's kind of funny. So now you know that I don't listen to the radio or get angry.

Day 19 - A Song From Your Favorite Album

I'm going to have say that this is going to be another Airborne Toxic Event song. Sorry guys!

Transformers : Universe

Ok, so Jagex, the company behind the free to play java MMORPG Runescape, are taking the helm of a transformers MMORPG. The game is called Transformers: Universe. Of course, it seems to be autobots vs. decepticons. All signs seem to point to a free online java game like Runescape. Here is a sneak peak, click the youtube link below.

Day 18 - A Song That You Wish You Heard On The Radio

It's no secret that I'm an Airborne Toxic Event fan. I wish they had more radio play. So I want to say "Welcome To Your Wedding Day."

Tonight's Review: Monsters!

In honor of Mr. Stay Puft coming to town tonight, I'm going to review Monsters; a very great U.K. science fiction!

New Chickenfoot Album

Yeah I'm a chickenfoot fan. The supergroup made of former Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar, former Van Halen bassist Micheal Anthony, guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani, and Red Hot Chili Pepper's drummer Chad Smith. Their next album is called Chickenfoot III, yet it's their second album. Why did they call it that? Well, Sammy Hagar has said he feels it's as if they skipped right over the second album and went right to the third. In other words, they are that good. The first album was great, just awesome rock n' roll from some great musicians who have had experience in other bands and projects. The next album is slated for release September 27th, 2011. I feel they can definitely live up to the hype of their last album. We will see next month when Chickenfoot III hits shelves.

Dominion-New League of Legends Gameplay Mode

Any League of Legends fans out there? Well, getting tired of the same two maps, fighting back and forth to destroy turrets and get to the nexus to win the battle? Well, Riot games, the creators of the game, have announced a new game mode called Dominion. Basically, it works a lot like Call of Duty's domination mode. Control multiple points on the map as your minions spawn from the ones you control. The more you control, the more health the opposite team loses. When one team losses all their nexus health, which is what drains when you control the points, that team losses.
Ok, this is good news for Riot games, who has had the same two maps and one gameplay mode for a long time. I haven't played in a while, maybe because it got so repetitive. But this a new gameplay mode and map. So it should bring more interest into the game and current players will find something different to do.

Pixelpipe'd Out!

To make better use of the Web 2.0 Social Media, I'm going to start using Pixelpipe.com to do all my posting. I can get a lot more posting accessed in a matter of seconds rather than having to manually access each site at a time to repeat the same information.

Cannot wait for this figure to be released!

This figure really looks good. I'm also testing Pixelpipe out to see how this works and if it will help with the site!

Day 17 - A Song That You Hear Often On The Radio

Well, if I listened to the radio, this would be an easy task. But I really don't listen to the radio so this is not an easy task. Now that I have to pick a song that I listen to, I am going to say this song is the song I hear often when I do put the radio on:

Day 16 - A Song That You Used To Love But Now Hate

This is going to be a challenging task for me to come up with a song. The issue is that I still love all the songs I used to love; or at least as far as I know I still love them. I'm going to go through my iTunes playlist with the shuffle feature enabled until I come up with something that I despise so much I have to hit next. Granted, I will be be listening to each song for about two seconds before I hit shuffle so i can say without fail that I am not at all in love with that song anymore and that I hate it. Hopefully I can find a song that I hate so much that I hit DELETE.

Well, here we go... Over 40+ thousand songs to pick from. SOMETHING HAS TO BE HATED...  Ok, so I am over 20 songs deep of shuffling now and all I have discovered is that I still like Lilly Allen.

Sorry Press Gang. You had such potential to be a great song. The Murder City Devils have a great instrumental sound but a grating use of vocals which ruins what could have been a great song. The drum overbearing drums also don't help.

Day 15 - A Song That Describes You

I was up late watching a movie called Monster so I can review it today... But this song, "Sparks Are Gonna Fly" by Catherine Wheel is one of the songs I would say describes me.

Monday, August 1, 2011

This week with Ghostbusting.net, I come home from vacation, talk about a flea market, discover Bones, catch up with Deadpool, and watch a bad movie series called Trancers with Helen Hunt. Ok, so I don't actually watch it with her but she is in it!

At noon I will try to get my San Diego Comic Con Stay Puft and also try out for the New York City Comic Con!

Day 13 - A Song That Is A Guilty Pleasure

Oh, Skee-Lo. I wish you were not a guilty pleasure of mine. And I wish my vacation didn't end tonight. But the good thing is that with my vacation being over, I can get back to the good posting!

Day 12 - A Song From A Band You Hate

GOD I HATE BOY BANDS... Sorry, I just had to start off with that. I hate N'Sync a lot. Sorry, Timberlake but you've done a lot of damage. More than you can ever imagine. Seriously... You helped ruin Duran Duran with your cancerous plans in "Red Carpet Massacre." I really despise your music.

So with that, I hate N'Sync and "Bye Bye Bye" comes into my mind as a horrible song that they have created. So I decide to spare you all by not having you hear that song by picking Further Seems Forever's great cover of a horrible song.

Day 11 - A Song From Your Favorite Band

I have way too many favorite bands to pick from so naming one from my favorite band is really like asking me to pick a song from one of my favorite bands... The Airborne Toxic Event has covered a couple of great bands and has clearly been influenced by some of my favorite bands. I guess, because of that, I can justify them as a favorite band...

Day 10 - A Song That Makes You Fall Asleep

The girl I am seeing has me watching the TV series "Bones." We just hit the episode "The Salt In The Wounds" and this song was playing. It's so peaceful with the acoustics. I haven't heard guitar like this in a while.

Mattel, are you listening?

I posed this on Matty's forum here:

Alright, Matty. You've given us a really cool Ecto-1 Exclusive by finally getting us the Rookie. Props for adding on the trap and some other equipment to the tool belt too. But I want to see the Female Rookie from the stylized version made. Ok, so it's going to be a whole new sculpt? I got that. But I can think of four easy uses of this sculpt.

#1 - The Video Game Rookie (Female)

#2 - Real Ghostbusters Janine  - Won't need Annie Potts' permission

#3 - From IDW's Ghostbusters series, the half-sister of Gozer... Rachel Unglighter

#4 - Extreme Ghostbusters Kylie (Stylized by IDW's Ghostbusters Tristan Jones)

Just for Fun:

Day 09 - A Song That You Can Dance To

I think this song really sums it up for me...

Captain America Review

I saw Captain America the day it came out, and I was pretty impressed. Before I saw it, I was expecting an ok marvel superhero movie. Admit it, without a good Captain America movie, The Avengers movie would be doomed to fail. How could you base an Avengers movie off a bad Captain America movie? Well, marvel accomplished the task very well. The movie didn’t have the most recognizable talent, other than Tommy Lee Jones and Hugo Weaving. Another reason why the movie didn’t seem like it was going to be great.

Well readers, I’ve got some news to give you. Captain America may be the best movie this summer. There, I said it. The acting was great, the story impressive. It had good action scenes. I’m not a huge comic book reader, I know very little of the story according to the comics but it seemed to follow it well from what I know. I’d say it gets four out of five stars. It was very well done, and will lead very well into the movie we are all waiting for, The Avengers in 2012. By the way, stay after the credits. You’ll thank me later!

Day 08 - A Song That You Know All The Words To

Oingo Boingo's "Deadman's Party" is one of the best examples of a song that is a cult classic; and yes, I know all the lyrics to it.

Day 07 - A Song That Reminds You of a Certain Event

Summer of 2008. North Jersey. I was working for Apple and we had what was called C.O.R.E. training. We were opening up a new retail and repair center in Wayne, NJ. There was a lot of new recruits and one of them was an elder gentleman who was really big into Alphaville.

Day 06 - A Song That Reminds You of Somewhere

"Tidal Wave" by Longwave is definitely a memory from Philadelphia. It was 2009 when I saw them perform this song live when they opened up for OkGo.

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 05 -A Song That Reminds You of Someone

Many bands and many songs come to mind with this posed challenge to me. Many of these bands arise like gladiators in the arena to come forward. The one that holds the championship for this glorious title is perhaps one of the saddest songs that I know of. Seriously, this song should have been the song for Day 04. Truth be told that this song was a formidable pick for yesterday but I decided to not use it so easily when this challenge would clearly justify this picking. This song is, "Hear You Me" by Jimmy Eat World.

Friday's Fun Photos!

Really not the greatest post but this is how I spent my night... Well, a part of it... at least...

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 04 - A Song That Makes You Sad

"Well I'd like to think i'm the mess you'd wear with pride. Like some empty dress on the bed you've layed out for tonight." That's just the opening lyrics for the song that makes me sad. It really does  because the band, Band of Horses, has an amazing set of vocals and instruments paired together. So what song is it? "I Go To The Barn Because I Like The."

Now the title itself makes little sense by itself; even with the lyrics and the song it makes no sense. But look at it as this: I Go To The Barn Because I Like The - Band Of Horses.

I first heard this song while watching Psych.

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 03 - A Song That Makes You Happy

Ok, so I know that M.I.A. is influenced by Joe Strummer and The Clash, yet I hate M.I.A. Seriously, I get sick every time I hear her music. BUT... I love The Clash. As mentioned with my favorite song in Day 01 of this challenge.

So what song makes me happy? Let's go with Mick Jones; retired from The Clash. But... his new band; Carbon Silicon. What song? The News!

Captain America!

Just for those of you who don't know, Captain America comes out tonight!

Check your local theater for times and showings!
