Re: Comic Book Day: Better Than Fireworks

Our friends at GeekChickDaily give us the comic book advice for this week. So it looks like Flashpoint #3 should be your best bet to spend your cold hard cash on.

Comic Book Day: Post-Explosive Reading

After the 4th, we genuinely hope you still have fingers to turn the pages of these cool books

#1. Top Pick: Flashpoint #3 - So the Flash, Flashpoint Batman and Cyborg are finally getting along. The first thing these party-animals do? Break into a secret government installation to recover Subject 1 from Project: Superman.

#2. Honorable Mention: Fear Itself #4
- Nothing says 4th of July like the return of Steve Rogers as Captain America. He's even in his old suit. But is that going to be enough to prevent Odin from destroying Earth before The Serpent has a chance to? That better be some pretty great spandex.

#3. Trade of the Week: Saga of the Swamp Thing Book 5
- After a long stint as a Vertigo title, Swamp Thing is back in the DCU. This hardcover collection continues to reprint Alan Moore's classic 1980s run full of horror, weird plant drugs and great writing.

#4. The Gang's All Here: The Boys #56
- Hughie's return to The Boys may be less triumphant and emotional than he had hoped, but that might be to Hughie's advantage. This is a Garth Ennis book. The very second someone gets sentimental, you know the next panel will include a foot gooshing through a skull in full color.

#5. The Wednesday Gamble: Elric: The Balance Lost #1 - So how is this Elric book a gamble? He is, after all, a fantasy staple. It's not written by Moorcock (insert Moorcock joke here...which is in itself a joke, isn't it?) Elric super-fan Neil Gaiman doesn't put his name on just anything, and he's written the afterword.

Happy GCBDay to Geoffrey Rush. We don't expect him to give a speech fit for a king.
